The Healing Garden Chapter 3
Chapter 3 — The Healing Garden-The Healing Garden Collection
"The day came when the risk to remain tight in the bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom." — Anaïs Nin
There are paintings you plan and paintings that simply arrive.
The Healing Garden arrived.
I didn't know when I painted it that it would give its name to an entire collection. I didn't know that it would find its way to exactly the right person — a woman who had walked through decades of difficulty and was finally, bravely stepping into her own light.
But that is exactly what happened.
She saw it and she knew, before the painting was even done. And I understood then that this painting - was never really mine.
Tall, luminous flowers reach upward through layers of ethereal teal, violet, and magenta, each bloom emerging from mist and light as if finding its form for the very first time. Deep purple hyacinths and phlox rise on the left, while translucent florals drift through the center — barely there, still finding their way. A bold burst of orange gladiolus blazes on the right like a flame that refused to go out.
Everything in this painting is in the act of becoming.
Some flowers bold and vivid. Some barely there. Some still reaching toward the light.
Like healing itself, not all at once, but slowly, quietly, one brave petal at a time.
As I would later come to understand, this was also the beginning of a healing time for me.
For years I had pushed the pain down — because I had more important things to deal with. A child to raise. A business to run. A salon full of people. I simply didn't have the time, the courage,or the energy to face what was waiting.
And I believed it.
I knew eventually I would have to face the music. But it wasn't to be during those years. So I painted instead. And somehow, without knowing it, I was already beginning.
This painting was created for everyone who has ever needed permission to heal. To bloom again. To reach toward the light one brave petal at a time.
The original found its forever home with someone who needed it most. The collection carries its name. And the story — her story, my story, and maybe yours — is still unfolding.
This is the garden that grows after the long winter. Not perfect. Not finished. But alive — beautifully, undeniably, miraculously alive.
The garden is open. You are welcome here. 💜
