Chapter 8 —The In Between- The Healing Garden Collection

This one fought me.

But if I am honest — I wasn't fighting the painting. I was fighting myself.

I was fighting the decisions I knew I had to make and didn't want to. The things I could see weren't working but kept trying to cover over anyway. The truths I had been putting off for as long as possible.

There is a place we all know — that suspended, uncertain space between what was and what will be. Between who we were and who we are becoming. Where the old things no longer fit but the new things haven't taken shape yet. Where everything feels unresolved and uncomfortable and achingly necessary.

That is where this painting was born.

Bold magenta and deep pink poppies take center stage, their frilly fringed petals catching an invisible light against a moody atmospheric background that pulses with emotion and raw energy. Deep navy foliage weaves through the composition with quiet elegance. Blue cornflowers and globe alliums in deep cobalt and periwinkle add wildness and texture. And throughout the canvas, fluffy white dandelion clocks glow like tiny lights in the darkness — wishes not yet made, or finally, beautifully released.

The background tells the whole story. Deep magenta and violet bleeding upward into luminous cerulean and teal. Vertical drips of paint carrying the honest, unguarded energy of someone in the middle of something real.

She wouldn't let me finish her until I stopped avoiding and finally faced what needed to be faced.

The moment I made the hard decisions I had been dreading — she came alive.

I named her exactly what she is.

The In Between.

Because that is not a place to rush through or cover over or pretend isn't happening. The in between is sacred space. It is where your most beautiful becoming is quietly taking root.

You are not lost. You are simply in between. 💜
